Mounting A Challenge

Local girl Jennifer Wood, from Chapel House, is hoping to face Africa’s challenges head on this summer. Currently studying at Reading University, Jennifer will be travelling to Kenya to assist in the building of a primary school before helping to teach children. She will then be ending the trip with a 5,000m climb up Mt Kenya, Africa’s second highest mountain.

Jennifer needs to raise £2,200 to make the trip possible and has so far already raised £370.

She is hoping to reach the required target using her own savings and by undertaking fund-raising through pub quizzes, sponsored events, and competitions. Jennifer also hopes to receive donations via her Kenya Challenge website, that has been built for her free of charge by Urban River.

When Jennifer contacted Urban River, they offered her a free web site so that she can accept donations online and she is more than happy with the results.

Jennifer said: “It’s lovely! Urban River Creative’s help is much appreciated”.

Carl Buckley, Managing Director or Urban River added: “Bringing aid to Africa is something close to our hearts. We’ve recently built a free web site for the Sudan water charity SUWGIA, and it’s great to be able to follow this up with another project that will help an area rated by the United Nations as one of the World’s poorest.

We wish Jennifer all the best with reaching her £2,200 target, and hope that she enjoys Kenya”.
