Meet Jack, our new Web Developer

Published: February 2015

How did you become a developer for Urban River?

I Studied Creative Digital Media at Teesside University, after graduating I began working for a online printing company called Sense Creative. While working in my previous job I created, maintained and updated new and existing websites, created Android and IOS Applications and created a online designer tool built in javascript/jQuery, that allowed users to design and create all types of print related products. From here, I was then contact by Carl Buckley asking if I was interested in applying for a web developer role. I was very impressed by the quality of work that was being produced at Urban River and jumped at the opportunity to join their team, and the rest is history!

What do you love about your job?

The thing I love most about my job is being able to work with the designers and clients to create a custom personalised website from start to finish, and to see the clients reaction when they see the finished product.

What is your favourite thing to do when you’re not at work?

I enjoy spending time with my fiancée, family and my friends, I am also a keen PC gamer and Sunderland fan.

What was the worst day of your career?

The worst day of my career was at a previous job when I was told I had to re-write all of my JavaScript code that I had spent 3 months working on, and re-write it in a different coding language instead, like I had suggested in the very beginning…

What was the best day of your career?

The best day of my career is when I completed my first website that I built from start to finish while working at Urban River, the website was and has a fresh and modern look/feel, the website also contains a client login portal that was tricky to build, but was very rewarding.
