Import to WordPress
Published: August 2014
Importing information can save you a lot of hard manual work when combining and revamping websites or building new ones. But with Importing we can skip the whole process of manually re-creating all the old content with hours of tedious copy & paste and pull all of the information across quickly saving you time and minimising on mistakes.
So to find the Import Tool, simply head to Tools > Import and you’ll all the different Import options that WordPress has to offer.
Next, select where you have Exported your information from (If you havn’t done this yet, check out this blog post on how to Export), and hit Install. You may need to provide some information here to get the Importer to Install but once you’re through, navigate back to Tools > Import > the Importer you just installed and then hit the “Choose file” button, select your Exported file and away you go.
Simple as that really and WordPress’s Importer supports a fair few information types:
- Blogger
- Blogroll
- LiveJournal
- TypePad
- RSS
- Tumblr
- and of course WordPress itself.
That’s all for this week after a nice follow up from last weeks Export post. Looks like WordPress 4.0 is on the edge of release so check back soon for some exciting insights on that!
