Urban River’s Alternative Valentine’s Night In
Published: February 2016
With Valentine’s Day falling on a Sunday this year, many couples will be settling down for a romantic night in. Whether you’re looking to spoil a guy or a girl, Creative Design Agency Urban River, have come up with their list of alternative, food, drinks and movies to do something a little different for your special someone this Valentine’s Day.
A quirky, but fun themed snack, these candy apple Cupid’s arrows look great and are simply put together.
Taking just some bamboo sticks and a little care and attention with a knife, these strawberry roses are a great way to take a true Valentine’s staple and turn them into something truly unique.
Another fun strawberry twist. With just some fresh berries, lemonade, a baking tray and a freezer, you can create these great little canapes for your romantic night in.
No romantic night-in curled up in front of a good movie is complete without pizza. Especially Valentine’s inspired pepperoni hearted pizza.
Bacon Heart canapes, because everything is better with bacon.
A decadent Valentine’s drink, this delicious cocktail is made by combining coconut rum, spiced rum and frozen berries. Not forgetting whipped cream to finish of course.
This bubbly blood orange Campari cocktail is made with fresh blood orange juice, Campari and champagne or sparkling wine.
A refreshing step away from traditional strawberries, muddle some raspberry and fresh mint in a highball glass. Fill with crushed ice and lemon flavoured Vodka and finish with lemon-lime soda. Delicious.
Based on Nick Hornby’s original novel, High Fidelity tells the story of independent record store owner Rob Gordon (played by John Cusack) as he battles with being unlucky in love and dragging himself into adulthood with the help of his zany friend, Barry, played by Jack Black.
As touching and twisted as it is romantic, Eternal Sunshine tells the story of Clementine (Kate Winslet) who after a painful breakup, undergoes a procedure to erase memories of her former boyfriend Joel (Jim Carrey) from her mind. When Joel discovers that Clementine is going to extremes to forget their relationship, he undergoes the same procedure.
With a screenplay written by Quentin Tarantino, True Romance is the kind of film you would expect, but with an underlying story of two misfit soul-mates who battle against the mob to build a life together.
Staring Audrey Tautou, Amelie is the beautiful story of an innocent and naive girl in Paris with her own sense of justice. She decides to help those around her and, along the way, discovers love.
